What is the difference between Chalk Paint and Milk Paint?Chalk Paint is thicker than Milk Paint. It is suitable for many projects and surfaces such as metal, glass, plastic, and wood. It takes less prep, and is often less durable. It's perfect for a chippy, weathered, or shabby chic looking project but can also be used with a top coat to increase durability or for a sleek finish. Milk Paint is thinner than Chalk Paint and is suitable for wood. It is much more durable and is recommended for higher traffic items and areas. It is self-leveling and very easy to work with. Milk paint can be customized to any color you choose, including national brands of paint like Sherwin-Williams, Behr and Benjamin Moore. A weathered look can also be achieved with sanding, but it is generally used for a more refined look. Milk Paint is also suitable as an outdoor finish with the appropriate top coat. We recommend using a top coat on both products for optimum durability and finish.
